Football Recap: Chasyn Cosner and Cooper Cranston Secure Win for Holcomb

Holcomb barely beat Scott the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Longhorns blew past the Beavers 32-7 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Holcomb was led to victory by Cooper Cranston and Chasyn Cosner. Cranston rushed for 210 yards and one TD while picking up 12.4 yards per carry, while Cosner rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. The dominant performance also gave Cranston a new career-high in passer rating (163.2).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Holcomb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 312 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Holcomb didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Korbin Johnson and Cranston.

Holcomb pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average over those games. As for Scott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Holcomb will take on rival Hugoton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Longhorns 10.7, the Eagles 8.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Scott is set to face off against their familiar foe Goodland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
