Baseball Recap: Northview Comes Up Short

Northview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 5-2 to the Sterling Heights Stevenson Titans.

Nick Schantz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Northview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Holmes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that Holmes snagged this season.

Northview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sterling Heights Stevenson, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Northview will host Napoleon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sterling Heights Stevenson, they are taking a road trip to square off against Utica Eisenhower at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 1.5, the Eagles 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
