Softball Game Preview: Liberty Christian Lions vs. Randolph Southern Rebels

Liberty Christian is 0-4 against Randolph Southern since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Rebels at 5:30 p.m. Randolph Southern took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Liberty Christian, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Liberty Christian turned things around against Indianapolis Shortridge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 19-9 victory. The Lions not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024 (when they won 30-16).

Addie Novakoski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Claire Callahan, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Liberty Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only posted an OBP of .353.

Meanwhile, Randolph Southern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Shenandoah, falling 18-0.

Liberty Christian's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Randolph Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Liberty Christian couldn't quite get it done against Randolph Southern in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 as they fell 10-6. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
