Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks
After four games on the road, Liberty is heading back home. They will take on the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Liberty pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-60 to Castle View. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Castle View is ranked 29th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cameron Cunningham, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds. Gavyn Franz was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. The contest between Cheyenne Mountain and Centaurus wasn't particularly close, with Cheyenne Mountain falling 61-45.
Their wins bumped Liberty to 1-3 and Castle View to 4-1.
Liberty came up short against Cheyenne Mountain when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 59-52. Will Liberty have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
