Softball Recap: Leland Victorious

Leland won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Thursday too. The Chargers walked away with a 6-2 victory over the 76ers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Londyn Letts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Lily Silva was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Irene Kim was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Leland's record is now 13-5. As for Independence, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Leland will face off against rival Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Independence is set to take on their familiar foe Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
