Basketball Game Preview: Sandburg Eagles vs. Lincoln-Way West Warriors

Sandburg hasn't had much luck against Lincoln-Way West recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sandburg Eagles will square off against the Lincoln-Way West Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Sandburg has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Sandburg is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since January 16th on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bradley-Bourbonnais 69-26. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Boilermakers are ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way West was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 51-47 to Lockport.

Sandburg is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Lincoln-Way West, their loss dropped their record down to 19-8.

Sandburg came up short against Lincoln-Way West in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 56-52. Can Sandburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
