Basketball Game Preview: Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns vs. Bridge City Cardinals

Hamshire-Fannett and Bridge City are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns will head out to face off against the Bridge City Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Hamshire-Fannett sitting on six straight wins and Bridge City on ten.

Hamshire-Fannett is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 62-61 victory over Salado.

Hamshire-Fannett's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Moore, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 23 points and six rebounds. The contest was Moore's sixth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Evie Woodall, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points along with six assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bridge City challenged Jarrell on Tuesday. Bridge City took down Jarrell 58-43.

Bridge City pushed their record up to 34-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points over those games. As for Hamshire-Fannett, their win bumped their record up to 28-9.

Hamshire-Fannett ended up a good deal behind Bridge City in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, losing 47-28. Can Hamshire-Fannett avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
