Basketball Game Preview: Maquoketa Cardinals vs. Clinton River Kings

The Maquoketa Cardinals will square off against the Clinton River Kings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Maquoketa came up short against Bellevue and fell 68-59.

Meanwhile, Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 41st straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 81-66 to Muscatine. One positive for the River Kings, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Maquoketa has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.

Everything came up roses for Maquoketa against Clinton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the squad secured a 77-32 win. Does Maquoketa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clinton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
