Softball Game Preview: Blythewood Bengals vs. South Florence Bruins

For the second straight game, Blythewood will face off against South Florence. The Bengals will head out on the road to face off against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blythewood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so South Florence's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Blythewood's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when South Florence hitters got past them. The Bengals lost 13-7 to the Bruins on Tuesday. The Bengals' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

For South Florence's part, Payton Perry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Perry was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Blakely Blue was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Rowsey, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

South Florence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

South Florence pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Blythewood, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
