Football Game Preview: Springstead Eagles vs. Belleview Rattlers

The Springstead Eagles will head out to face off against the Belleview Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Springstead 9.3, Belleview 5.7) so any points scored will be well earned.

Springstead is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They managed a 25-20 victory over Land O' Lakes.

Springstead got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Arianna Willoughby out in front who threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Those 135 passing yards gave Willoughby a new career-high. J'Ziyah Munford was in the mix too, providing Springstead with two scores.

Springstead didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Briana Coleman led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself.

Meanwhile, Belleview had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.2 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 40-0 victory over the Bobcats. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Rattlers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Bobcats are ranked 141st).

Springstead's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Belleview, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.
