Baseball Recap: Unity Reed Comes Up Short

Unity Reed extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Mount Vernon Majors, falling 27-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

As for Mount Vernon, their record is now 7-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

For Mount Vernon's part, Luke Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thomas was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hudson Seyfried was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Harry Sliger was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Unity Reed has already played their next match (against Hylton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Mount Vernon, they have also already played their next contest, a 17-0 victory against Osbourn on the 16th.
