Basketball Recap: Bountiful's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Bountiful came tearing into Friday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Northridge Knights with a sharp 63-40 win. Given the RedHawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Knights are ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bountiful's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Harvey, who went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. Harvey is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 19 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mae Johnson, who posted ten points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Bountiful smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Bountiful pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Northridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bountiful will face off against Bonneville at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bountiful is facing Bonneville at the right time seeing as Bonneville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Northridge, they will challenge Box Elder at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Northridge will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Box Elder will have lost ten straight heading into Wednesday's contest.
