Basketball Game Preview: McCall-Donnelly Vandals vs. Fruitland Grizzlies

The McCall-Donnelly Vandals will venture away from home to face off against the Fruitland Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McCall-Donnelly will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

McCall-Donnelly can't be too worried about heading out to take on Fruitland: they just beat Weiser at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. McCall-Donnelly walked away with a 43-33 win over Weiser on Saturday.

Izzy Tinney was the offensive standout of the matchup as she posted 18 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lexie Arnold, who had eight points.

Meanwhile, Fruitland hadn't done well against Cole Valley Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Fruitland sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 victory over Cole Valley Christian. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

Fruitland's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for McCall-Donnelly, their record now sits at 13-10.

McCall-Donnelly couldn't quite finish off Fruitland when the teams last played back in January and fell 57-54. Can McCall-Donnelly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
