Basketball Game Preview: Alexander Spartans vs. Southeastern Panthers

The Alexander Spartans will be taking part in a tournament against the Southeastern Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alexander has five straight wins, Southeastern has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Alexander beat Warren 42-37.

Meanwhile, Southeastern lost 51-26 to Adena on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 571st, while the Warriors are ranked 208th).

Alexander pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points over those games. As for Southeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Everything came up roses for Alexander against Southeastern when the teams last played back in December of 2018, as the team secured a 60-20 win. Will Alexander repeat their success, or does Southeastern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
