Recap: Jacksonville Crimsons vs. Normal University Pioneers

If The Jacksonville Crimsons were riding high off their 31-7 takedown of the Springfield Senators last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jacksonville took a 49-35 bruising from Normal University on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (31), Jacksonville still had to take the loss.

Jacksonville's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camron Mitchell, who rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. LaMarion Williams was in the mix as well, providing Jacksonville with two touchdowns.

Alek Weiland was a one-man wrecking crew for Normal University as he threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. Lyfe Campbell was another key contributor, gaining 123 total yards and two touchdowns.

Jacksonville now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Normal University, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.

Jacksonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Normal University is also done with their season.
