Columbus North is 7-2 against Terre Haute South Vigo since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bull Dogs will take on the Braves at 6:00 p.m. Terre Haute South Vigo took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbus North, who comes in off a win.
Columbus North came out on top against Perry Meridian on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run fifth inning. The Bull Dogs put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 15-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bull Dogs in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.
Payton Morris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Morris was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Morgan Jarvis and Miley McClellan did most of the damage at the plate: Jarvis went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while McClellan went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI McClellan has posted since back in May of 2024. Destinee Allman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when Terre Haute South Vigo took on Terre Haute North Vigo on Thursday. The Braves might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Patriots, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Braves just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.
Terre Haute South Vigo got a big performance out of Marcia Parker, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lakyn Hadley, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
Terre Haute South Vigo's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Columbus North, their record is now 6-7.
Columbus North skirted past Terre Haute South Vigo 10-9 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bull Dogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
