Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cosumnes Oaks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pleasant Grove). They came out on top against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack by a score of 12-8 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won seven in a row.

Matt Emmons tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Darian Roberts was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Pleasant Grove: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Varin Verma, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Pleasant Grove's record is now 5-6. As for Cosumnes Oaks, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pleasant Grove beat the Wolfpack by a score of 12-0 on Wednesday.
