Softball Recap: East River Falcons vs. Lyman Greyhounds
With a playoff win on the line, East River rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lyman Greyhounds by a score of 4-1. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.
Katherine Sanchez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mady Alvarado, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Michelle Alvarado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
East River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
