Brookfield is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Immaculate is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bobcats will welcome the Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Brookfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Brookfield is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Norwich Free Academy just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1.
Brookfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lila Conrad, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Immaculate never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Staples. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by nine runs or more this season.
Not much got past Sophia Schnatz, who gave up just two hits to keep Staples off the board.
On the hitting side, Laurel Pucci was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Costa, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Immaculate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Immaculate has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Brookfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brookfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Immaculate struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brookfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Immaculate when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 9-4. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
