Volleyball Game Preview: Columbus Cardinals vs. Lakeside Lutheran Warriors

Columbus is 0-10 against Lakeside Lutheran since October of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Cardinals will square off against the Warriors at 6:45 p.m.

Columbus came up short against Lake Mills on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lake Mills scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.

The losing side was boosted by Gwen Kalafut, who had 21 digs and one assist. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Lakeside Lutheran narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lodi 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (100-94) Lakeside Lutheran actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 12-25, 17-25, 15-13.

Lakeside Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 14-22. As for Columbus, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-17.

Columbus might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Lakeside Lutheran in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
