Football Recap: Selinsgrove Takes a Loss

Selinsgrove extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They were beaten by the Berwick Bulldogs 56-0. While losing is never fun, the Seals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 192nd).

Rocco Amato threw for 52 yards on six of ten attempts. Peter Scorsone was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards.

As for Berwick, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average over those games.

Ty'Meere Wilkerson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 305 yards and four scores on only 15 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Looking ahead, Selinsgrove will host Danville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Berwick, they will venture away from home to challenge Tunkhannock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
