Baseball Game Preview: San Dimas Saints vs. Paraclete Spirits

The San Dimas Saints will face off against the Paraclete Spirits at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (San Dimas 2.8, Paraclete 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

San Dimas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Colony 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since April 1st.

Meanwhile, Paraclete came tearing into Tuesday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 6-3.

Paraclete got a great performance from Jacob Draper as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Draper also allowed no hits, which is notable because the Spirits are undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 12-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Paraclete let Jesse Hernandez and Julian Trejo run wild. Hernandez went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Trejo went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Trejo has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Armando Saucedo, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Paraclete pushed their record up to 17-13 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for San Dimas, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.
