Baseball Recap: East Duplin Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

East Duplin dropped their record down to 12-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 14-4 to the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since May 7, 2024.

Colton Holmes was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Gavin Holmes was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for C.B. Aycock, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-12 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On C.B. Aycock's side, Ashton Fricks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Fricks has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Cox, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dalton Gray, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
