Basketball Game Preview: Burges Mustangs vs. Monterey Plainsmen

Two dominant guards in Danae Gonzalez and Aaliyah Chavez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Burges Mustangs will square off against the Monterey Plainsmen on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Burges comes in on six and Monterey on three.

Burges is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 50-49 win over Bel Air.

Meanwhile, Monterey blew past Memorial, posting an 83-26 victory. The Plainsmen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 24 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Monterey's win bumped their record up to 32-5. As for Burges, their victory bumped their record up to 22-10.

Burges was dealt a bruising 96-50 loss at the hands of Monterey in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chavez, who shot 6-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double with 34 points and ten rebounds.
