Basketball Recap: West Lafayette Takes a Loss

West Lafayette was the 54-19 winner over North Montgomery when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The West Lafayette Red Devils lost to the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers at home by a 41-27 margin on Tuesday. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, West Lafayette saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amaya St. Hilaire posted eight points and eight boards. St. Hilaire is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

North Montgomery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Piper Ramey led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 22 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ramey has scored at least a third of North Montgomery's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Graham, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 15 points.

West Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for North Montgomery, their record now sits at 9-3.

West Lafayette wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-36 victory against Logansport on the 19th. As for North Montgomery, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crawfordsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Montgomery is facing Crawfordsville at the right time seeing as Crawfordsville is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
