Softball Recap: Carroll Extends Winning Streak to Three

Carroll waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Alice Coyotes. Considering the Tigers have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ali Ann Deleon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Talina Valdez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Benasia Ellison, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Carroll's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Alice, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.

Looking ahead, Carroll will face off against Flour Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alice, they will square off against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Alice surely won't give up without a fight.
