Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Marauders vs. Fishers Tigers
Fishers hit Mt. Vernon with a six-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Marauders lost 16-4 to the Tigers. The Marauders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Emma Jenkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. Breanna Laffey was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Vernon and nudges their season record down to 3-9. As for Fishers, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will welcome Greenfield-Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Marauders are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Fishers, they will host Zionsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
