Baseball Game Preview: Mount View Golden Knights vs. Green Sea Floyds Trojans

The Mount View Golden Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Green Sea Floyds Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Mount View will be strutting in after a victory while Green Sea Floyds will be coming in after a loss.

Mount View will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Richwood, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Golden Knights were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Lumberjacks on Friday. The Golden Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Hunter Muncy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Mount View is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3-1 otherwise. Muncy was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Jacob Wright was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Levi Barton, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Green Sea Floyds fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Latta on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 6-5. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mount View is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Green Sea Floyds, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
