Softball Recap: Whitefield Academy Wildcats vs. Portland Christian Eagles
Whitefield Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 9-5 to the Portland Christian Eagles. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Lyla Johnson led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Pickett, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Whitefield Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Portland Christian, they moved to 8-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitefield Academy will square off against Brown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portland Christian, they will welcome Fern Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
