Alvarado extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-0. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 55-50 W against the Glen Rose Tigers. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Demarcus Belton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 268 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 15.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 34 receiving yards. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. KJ Jenkins was another key player, throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Alvarado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 435 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

As for Glen Rose, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. On the bright side, the 50- point effort marked their highest-scoring matchup to date.

When it comes to explaining why Glen Rose lost, don't look at Judd Connally. Despite the final result, he rushed for 166 yards and three scores, and also threw for 222 yards and a pair of TDs. With that strong performance, Connally is now averaging an impressive 104.6 rushing yards per game.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Alvarado and Ranchview will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,162 yards in their previous games. As for Glen Rose, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Godley at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The contest will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
