Basketball Recap: Hopkinsville Takes a Loss

Hopkinsville lost against Castle back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hopkinsville Tigers lost 73-49 to the Castle Knights. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Xander Niehaus was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 14 en route to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals for Castle. Niehaus' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Aigner, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Hopkinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Castle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Hopkinsville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-62 win against Logan County on the 20th. Castle has also already played their next contest, a 63-56 loss against Evansville Memorial on the 21st.
