Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Notre Dame Prep kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 63-46 bruising from the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders. The Lancers were down 50-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Thomas Aquinas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kellson (KJ) Sandi, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 19 points. Sandi continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clarence Westbrook Jr., who went 8 of 16 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

The victory was the fifth in a row for St. Thomas Aquinas, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Notre Dame Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gray Collegiate Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on St. Francis Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.5 points per game this season.
