Softball Game Preview: Queen's Grant Stallions vs. Union Preparatory Polar Bears

The Queen's Grant Stallions will face off against the Union Preparatory Polar Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Queen's Grant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.4 runs per game this season.

Queen's Grant will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Monroe on Friday. The Stallions blew past the Redhawks 16-1. The win continues a trend for the Stallions in their matchups with the Redhawks: they've now won eight in a row.

Alyssa Steele was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Steele was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicole Strickland-Mitchell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Schott, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Queen's Grant hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monroe struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Union Preparatory didn't have quite enough to beat Greater Cabarrus S on Tuesday and fell 7-5.

Union Preparatory's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Queen's Grant, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
