Softball Recap: North Star Cougars vs. Meyersdale Red Raiders
North Star extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-10. They lost 9-3 to the Meyersdale Red Raiders. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Red Raiders when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Alisha Yoder was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Meyersdale, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
On Meyersdale's side, Keira Eberly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Eberly has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Kendell Donaldson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emma Hobbs, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
While North Star had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
