Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty and Centennial pushed the score to 13-11 the last time they played Centennial, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Patriots fell just short of the Golden Hawks by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.

Liberty saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Turman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. The Patriots are 4-2 when Turman posts one or more home runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

Liberty has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Centennial, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

While Liberty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
