Basketball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Freedom was the 64-63 winner over Pittsburg when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Freedom Falcons fell 66-56 to the Pittsburg Pirates on Tuesday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pittsburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jasaan Garcia led the charge by going 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and eight boards. That's the most points Garcia has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrance Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Pittsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom will welcome Saint Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Freedom knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Saint Mary's likes a good challenge. As for Pittsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
