Baseball Recap: Veterans Memorial Takes a Loss

Veterans Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against the Tivy Antlers, falling 12-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Antlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 last Tuesday.

Alejandro Ocana was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Chris Ramos also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Veterans Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Tivy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-15 record this season.

Veterans Memorial and Tivy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Patriots (ranked 982nd) will meet Sotomayor (ranked 273rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tivy will challenge Smithson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (453 vs. 179).
