Basketball Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Rincon/University Rangers
After both having extra time off, the Mountain View Mountain Lions and the Rincon/University Rangers will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.
Mountain View's tournament run continued when they took on Artesia two weeks ago. Mountain View came out on top against Artesia by a score of 71-60. Given the Mountain Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 104th in Arizona, while the Pioneers are ranked 462nd in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Isaiah Romero, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Reidhead, who posted 13 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, Rincon/University ended up a good deal behind Tolleson last Friday and lost 66-48. The Rangers were down 52-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Rincon/University has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Mountain View, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
