Softball Recap: South Spencer Rebels vs. North Posey Vikings

South Spencer extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They came up short against the North Posey Vikings, falling 13-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rebels of the 15-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for North Posey, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

For North Posey's part, Alyssa Heath made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Heath has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lily Hester was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Murphy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

South Spencer has already played their next game, a 6-0 loss against Princeton on the 21st. As for North Posey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 26-0 win against Washington on the 22nd.
