Softball Recap: Lake Travis Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lake Travis ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Westlake Chaparrals 4-3. That's more bragging rights for the Cavaliers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Julianna Rodriguez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haley Whitefield, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

Lake Travis' win bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for Westlake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Travis will be taking part in a tournament against Fredericksburg at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Westlake, they will take on Del Valle at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Westlake is facing Del Valle at the right time seeing as Del Valle is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
