Baseball Game Preview: Arvada West Wildcats vs. Rocky Mountain Lobos

Arvada West is 0-3 against Rocky Mountain since March of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Wildcats will square off against the Lobos at 9:00 a.m. Arvada West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Arvada West heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They lost 11-5 to Regis Jesuit. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this match were averaging 2.92 runs allowed.

Arvada West saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Vais, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Beau Friesen was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Rocky Mountain's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 3-0 to Cherry Creek. The shutout was out of character for the Lobos seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

Rocky Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Arvada West, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-3-1.

Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arvada West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Rocky Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
