Flag Football Game Preview: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Valhalla Norsemen

The El Capitan Vaqueros will square off against the Valhalla Norsemen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Capitan's defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so Valhalla's offense will have their work cut out for them.

El Capitan easily dispatched El Cajon Valley on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Vaqueros fell just short of West Hills by a score of 26-24 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vaqueros have suffered since August 12th.

Despite the loss, El Capitan got top-tier performance from Kylee Frazier, who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 99 yards. Frazier is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games she's played. El Capitan's leading receiver Gabriella Jackson was Frazier's top target yet again, picking up 96 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Even if they lost, El Capitan's defense still kept up the pressure with eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Alina Torrance-Guignard and Audra Guillory, who racked up six sacks between them. Another thorn in West Hills' side was Ravan Haizlip, who made nine total tackles and snagged an interception.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valhalla). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past El Cajon Valley 33-31. The victory was nothing new for the Norsemen as they're now sitting on four straight.

Valhalla's win bumped their record up to 5-7-1. As for El Capitan, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.
