Softball Recap: Immokalee Comes Up Short

Immokalee was the 5-1 winner over Moore Haven when they last played one another back in February of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Immokalee fell 9-5 to Moore Haven on Tuesday.

Leyah Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Jaylynn Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Immokalee has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. Moore Haven's win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Immokalee and Moore Haven should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Immokalee will face off against Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday up 283 places (240 vs. 523). Meanwhile, Moore Haven (ranked 126th) will meet East Lee County (ranked 521st) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Moore Haven's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while East Lee County has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
