Soccer Game Preview: Salem vs. Columbia

Salem is 0-5 against Columbia since May of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

Salem is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to nine goals last Monday, they were much more limited against Mt. Vernon on Thursday. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-1. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Salem couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Columbia faced Father McGivney Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Eagles never let the Griffins get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The victory was nothing new for Columbia as they're now sitting on three straight.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 15-2-3.

Salem might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Columbia in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
