Softball Game Preview: Peoria Panthers vs. Cactus Cobras

For the second straight game, Peoria will face off against Cactus. Peoria will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Cactus at 3:45 p.m. Peoria has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with 35 straight defeats, while Cactus will come in with three straight victories.

Peoria came up short against Cactus on Monday, falling 16-4.

For Cactus' part, Riley Kilgore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kilgore has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Cactus let Rhyan Enos and Charley Enos run wild. Rhyan scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Charley scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Charley has posted since back in April of 2024. Faith Larsen was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Cactus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive games.

The win got Cactus back to even at 5-5. As for Peoria, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.
