Football Recap: Homestead Mustangs vs. Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors
Homestead had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors as the Homestead Mustangs made off with a 42-18 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Several Aztec Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emanuel Velazquez, who threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns. 152 of those passing yards were hauled in by Elijah Duncan.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homestead will have plenty of time to enjoy the victory as they don't play again for a while. They'll take on Gunderson at 7:15 p.m. on September 13th. As for Yerba Buena, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Leland at 7:15 p.m. on September 12th. Yerba Buena is looking for their season?s first win.
