Baseball Game Preview: KIPP Collegiate phoenix vs. Overton Wolverines

KIPP Collegiate is 0-3 against Overton since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The phoenix will challenge the Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

KIPP Collegiate is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Trezevant.

Meanwhile, Overton came up short against Cordova on Monday, falling 20-9. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost seven in a row.

Julian Tallent made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwan Hooker, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

KIPP Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Overton, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7-1.

KIPP Collegiate suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Overton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
