Baseball Recap: Augusta Beavers vs. Eleva-Strum Cardinals
Augusta had lost 19 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it 20. They lost 10-3 to the Eleva-Strum Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in April.
Tyler Lee made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Nathan Atchison also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for Eleva-Strum, they moved to 6-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Eleva-Strum's side, Titan Miller and Afton Flynn did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Flynn went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave Flynn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Martinson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Looking ahead, Augusta is taking a road trip to square off against Boyceville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eleva-Strum, they will be playing at home against Alma Center Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
