Baseball Recap: Kohler Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Kohler waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Laconia Spartans.

Collin Thorne made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zane Willadsen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Kohler's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Laconia, their loss dropped their record down to 11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kohler will welcome Oostburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Flying Dutchmen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.82 runs per game on average), something the Blue Bombers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Laconia, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Campbellsport at 5:00 p.m.
