Baseball Game Preview: Newfane Panthers vs. Barker Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Newfane will face off against Barker. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Newfane fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Barker on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2.

For Barker's part, Noah Sandolfini and Jackson Prynn were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Sandolfini struck out 12 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Prynn tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Sandolfini a new career-high. At bat, Sandolfini went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Prynn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double. That double marked the first that Sandolfini has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew LaGreca, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.

Barker's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Newfane, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
